Have you ever heard the phrase "There is no compression algorithm for experience"? This statement is often cited by Andy Jassy, the current CEO of Amazon and the former CEO of AWS, every time Amazon is emphasizing its long experience in the cloud market.
Is it really so, in reality?
If that was the case, wouldn't IBM, which was decades ahead of Amazon, be ruling the current cloud and e-commerce markets? How has Amazon completely overturned the market?
You might even ask, "How can you compress and increase the speed of gaining experience?"
Wardley Maps Battle Camp is a workshop where teams are competing against each other in a fast-paced, time-limited, simulated environment, using Wardley Maps. Strategy practitioners can safely make real-life-like company decisions and see their effects, try to dominate the market, while quickly learning how their competitor might react in minutes, not years.
In a real-life company, seeing the results of some strategic decisions can take weeks, months, even years. With Battle Camp, this process of experiencing and learning which move to make is sped up to hours or even minutesghhgh.
The Wardley Maps Battle Camp is a workshop meant for practitioners and experts who want to speed up their learning cycle by playing against other Wardley Maps practitioners in a simulated, safe environment.
Wardley Maps are a visual tool, created by Simon Wardley, that describes your company's situational environment. They visualize your customers, their needs, followed by components that satisfy them, and then other pieces that are needed by those components in order for them to work and so on.
These components and their subcomponents evolve separately, driven by the forces of supply and demand. They evolve from their initial state of discovery and novelty, to custom built, then products and eventually all become a commodity, the standard cost of doing business.
Wardley Maps are similar to chess. Without knowing some basic concepts, (such as the board, figures and moves) competing against others is difficult. If you have experience with Wardley Maps, you can attend any public Battle Camp workshop. In case you feel less experienced and would like to learn the Battle Camp rules first, Battle Camp has a "Beginner Mode", where people with little Wardley Maps experience can play and learn the basics.
There is a list of recommended courses by Simon Wardley, the creator of Wardley Maps, or you can also contact us here for some lessons or workshops.
